UE Caloocan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (UECMC), with official business address 105 Samson Road, Caloocan City, was established during the final quarter of the year 2008. The office was transferred to the Engineering Building to give way to the construction of the Lucio C. Tan Building. Because of the united efforts of the interim Board of Directors namely: Mr. Clemente A. Diwas, Mr. Gerardo V. Venturina, Ms. Gemma A. Asuncion, Mr. Henry Dyke A. Balmeo and Mr. Sherwin Leonides M. Villa and other founding members, the cooperative was able to have its formal start of operation in 2009 with membership of only 22 and with Authorized Share Capital of One Million Pesos, P430,000.00 of which was subscribed and the amount of P112,000.00 was initially paid up. The first year of its operation was indeed fruitful realizing a net surplus of P253,407.00, which doubled on the second year of its operation in 2010 with P564,852.00.
In 2011, the original Articles of Cooperation and By-Laws were amended in compliance with the implemented Republic Act 9520. The Cooperative Development Authority assigned 0105163254 as its new Cooperative Identification Number (CIN). New consignment businesses were started resulting to increase income of the cooperative.
The year 2012 was another fruitful periods for the cooperative. With more simplified loan mechanics for every loan products, the cooperative was able to reach its target for its loan releases. The cooperative’s consignment business also prospered and continued providing the cooperative additional income.
In 2013 and 2014, UECMC had temporary setback due to an unexpected resignation of the General Manager/Accountant and Bookkeeper, the operation was temporarily managed with the help and cooperation among the officers of the cooperative. It was only in November of 2013 when the new Manager was hired to manage the operation of the cooperative. By 3nd Quarter of 2014, visible improvement and smooth flow of the operation was seen in UECMC.
On September 26, 2014 UECMC was nominated in 2014 Gawad Parangal CDA-MEO as Most Outstanding Cooperative in Small Category which inspired its officers to improve the cooperative’s performance and services to members and community.
In 2015, another fruitful year for UECMC, the operation of the cooperative became stable and liquid, problems encountered in previous years was successfully overcomed. Members enjoyed continuous availment of loan services considering that the funds are sufficient enough to accommodate member’s loan. As the Cooperative Movement celebrated its Centennial Year, UECMC supported it by participating its various activities organized by the CDA and CCDCO. UECMC was awarded in 2015 Gawad Parangal CDA-MEO being the 2nd place in the Most Outstanding Cooperative in Small Category and another award was also received as the Most Compliant Cooperative with CCDCO.
In 2016, UECMC maintain its glorious year being the 3rd time awardee in the CDA-MEO Gawad Parangal and for the 2nd time as 2nd place in the Most Outstanding Cooperative in Small Category. WHY JOIN UECMC?
(Exclusive for University of the East Caloocan Campus Employees and Faculty Members)
Here are seven good reasons:
1. OWN the cooperative.
UECMC members own the cooperative equally. You can be as active as you choose. You have a voice and a vote at Regular General Assembly Meetings, which is held once every year or even during Special General Assembly Meetings, where you help define the vision and mission of our cooperative, and are welcome to share your views for its betterment. You can serve on a committee or even become a member of the Board of Directors, suggest new services and products, and volunteer in the implementation of projects. Since UECMC is still very young, there are wider rooms of opportunities available for both the cooperative and you.
2. REFUND your expenses.
UECMC members receive patronage refunds for the products and services that they took advantage of in the cooperative. Meaning, members are actually not just availing the products and services at affordable prices but also at prices a lot lower or “cheaper” than the usual.
3. Have a PASSIVE INCOME.
By investing in the cooperative, that is by buying shares of stocks, you are not just saving the money you earn but also you are making your money work for you because the amount you invested will determine your share in the net surplus of the cooperative during the yearly dividend distribution.
4. SAVE the money you earn.
UECMC members are required to save at least a little portion of their salary to their Savings Deposit Account. They are also encouraged to put up their Time Deposit Accounts that could earn interest higher than what they could earn in other savings and financing institutions.
5. Participate in TRAINING and other LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.
As a member of UECMC, you will be equipped with knowledge that will immerse you in to the idea of the cooperative movement, its principles and objectives, as included in the curricular requirements prescribed by the cooperative authority.
6. Get involved in the COMMUNITY.
Being a member of UECMC is much more exciting as the members given the chance to share what they have in excess to the community through outreach programs.
7. Start an INCOME-GENERATING activity.
UECMC members are given equal opportunity to think, to design, to propose and, if feasible and approved by the directors, to implement a business that can be a secondary source of their income.
